Clinical Trial: Avalyn’s MIST Study

May 2, 2024

In this May 2024 PF Warriors special clinical trial meeting, representatives from Avalyn Pharma, including Dr. Craig Conoscenti and Dr. Allison Trucillo, introduce their new clinical research efforts focused on inhaled pirfenidone (AP01) for treating Progressive Pulmonary Fibrosis (PPF). They discuss the science behind inhaled antifibrotics, share data from completed Phase 1 studies, and outline their new global Phase 2B MIST trial. The speakers highlight improved lung exposure and reduced side effects compared to oral options. A robust Q&A session covers patient eligibility, insurance, background therapies, and broader clinical trial participation concerns from the PF community.

Dr. Craig Conoscenti is a pulmonologist and clinical researcher with over two decades of experience in interstitial lung disease. Formerly at Boehringer Ingelheim, he helped develop and launch oral nintedanib for IPF. He now leads research efforts at Avalyn Pharma, focusing on inhaled therapies for fibrotic lung diseases.

Dr. Allison Trucillo is Vice President of Medical Affairs at Avalyn Pharma, leading medical strategy and clinical development. With over 20 years in the pharmaceutical industry, she has worked across biotech, diagnostics, and respiratory therapeutics.
