Dr. Zohra Prasla presented an in-depth session on hypersensitivity pneumonitis (HP), an immune reaction in the lungs caused by inhaled antigens such as mold, animal proteins, or environmental exposures. She explained HP’s overlap with other interstitial lung diseases (ILDs), key diagnostic tools including CT scans, bronchoscopy, and biopsy, and emphasized the critical role of identifying and removing the causative antigen. Dr. Prasla also discussed medication options such as corticosteroids, immunosuppressants, and antifibrotics like OFEV®, as well as emerging treatments like nerandomilast.
Dr. Zohra Prasla is a pulmonologist and faculty member at the University of Texas Southwestern (UTSW) Medical Center.
